Lace Lingerie

Here at Honey Bee we offer lingerie created in the most delicate and exquisite laces which produce the most sensual and timeless articles of beauty. Our designers use different types of lace for their stunning creations including: Leavers, Chantilly and Austrian.

Leavers lace is the most sought after and beautiful lace in the world even today. It is also known as Calais lace and spans back to 1808. Leavers lace is the most expensive and aspired lace in the world. This exquisite lace is produced by only a handful of manufacturers today in Northern France and the machinery has changed little since John Leavers created it in Nottingham in 1831. Chantilly is the town in France where the beautiful Chantilly lace originated from in the early years of the eighteenth century, but long before this, a lace making school had been started in Chantilly by the Duchesse de Longueville. Chantilly is a silk bobbin lace. Chantilly was greatly esteemed by French ladies of rank and fashion and is mentioned over and over again in records of that era. Today it is still classed as an exquisite lace and is used by our designers regularly to make the most beautiful and unique lingerie.

Austrian lace is another beautiful lace that is used by our designers. The embroidery industry in Lustenau in Austria went from strength to strength in 1880 until about 1928, when almost all the town’s residents earned their living in this trade. Embroiderers produced inlays and lace for ladies’ lingerie and for under and over pieces. In the early 20th century, it was fashionable to wear white dresses made entirely of embroidered fabric in the period from 1907 to 1910 blouses were often decorated with embroidery. As you can see all our designers go to every length to make sure that every garment is perfect this is so essential to them all and only the best of laces will do.
